The Minnesota Timberwolves lost a competitive game to the Los Angeles Lakers on Tuesday night.
The Timberwolves were unable to keep LeBron James in check on Tuesday night as they lost to Los Angeles by eight points.
Karl-Anthony Towns only had 15 points in the home loss, and just overall was not as involved as the Timberwolves needed him to be – only taking ten overall shots (making seven of them).
Anthony Edwards was the only player on the Timberwolves that scored more than 20 points tonight – getting 28 on 20 shots. Edwards had multiple big moments tonight, hitting a step-back three over LeBron James in the late-first half.
Jordan McLaughlin was another player that overperformed tonight. He had 13 points, four assists and two steals off of the bench, and continues to make winning plays on both ends of the floor. Whether or not it happens, Gersson Rosas should be willing to give McLaughlin a long-term contract that allows him to get rotational minutes in every game – rather than being stuck on a two-way contract.
I have seen enough. They HAVE to get McLaughlin on a multi-season contract.

Malik Beasley did not have his most efficient tonight, but was still, overall, very impactful – hitting three 3’s. Ricky Rubio scored in double figures for the second consecutive game – and has been much, much improved over his recent stretch.
The Timberwolves were unable to stop Dennis Schroder, who played well on both sides of the ball. He finished with 24 points on 15 shots, making 3-4 shots from three. Outside of he and LeBron James, only Marc Gasol and Montrezz Harrell finished in double figures.
The Timberwolves would get 8 steals in the first quarter (tying a franchise record), but only come away with ten more throughout the rest of the game.
Again, Towns getting zero shots in the fourth quarter is another failure of coaching by Ryan Saunders – and it will be interesting to see just how long he lasts if mistakes like these continue to pile up – because it’s starting to become unbelievable that he still has the job that he does.
