Minnesota Timberwolves rookie Anthony Edwards just threw down the dunk of the year.

Seriously. That isn’t hyperbole, and there aren’t any othercontenders. On Twitter, there’s plenty of talk of it being one of the best in-game dunks of all-time, and …that really doesn’t seem crazy.

Minnesota Timberwolves’ Anthony Edwards throws down dunk of the year

Edwards capped a 23-1 run by the Wolves in the closing seconds of the third quarter by pump-faking, driving baseline, and rising up, over, and on top of Yuta Watanabe.

Check this out:

Watch it again. There are two Raptors players in the back row of their bench who stood up and turned away from the carnage. That’s how you know it’s a good dunk.

There are plenty of other angles out there, too. The Timberwolves’ official Twitter sent out a few of their own. Here’s another one:

This is a legit poster dunk. Like, it’s definitely already on some kid’s wall somewhere.

In fact, it may be on other NBA players’ walls.

NBA players and Patrick Mahomes react to Anthony Edwards’ monster dunk

NBA players predictably reacted with shock and awe to the rookie’s masterpiece.

Our own Bradshaw Furlong pulled a few reactions from Instagram stories.

The Kansas City Chiefs’ Patrick Mahomes was a fan, as well.

Beyond athletes, NBA Twitter — and, really, Twitter as a whole — was amped, and rightfully so.

This dunk had everything. It was in a close game, the defense actually tried to stop him, he was above the rim, he was fouled, and the dunk went through clean. He even made the free throw after watching his own replay on the big screen!

The Wolves ultimately lost this one after failing to score over the final three-plus minutes of the game, but it will forever be remembered as the night that Anthony Edwards threw down what was easily the most memorable dunk since DeAndre Jordan over Brandon Knight nearly a full decade ago.

Now, Edwards just has to bring this aggressiveness on a nightly basis. It shouldn’t be lost that he finished the game with only seven points on 3-of-14 shooting and 0-of-7 from outside the arc.

Next. The future is now for Wolves' young big men. dark

Then again, it also better not be lost that Edwards had the dunk of the decade on Feb. 19, 2021.
