Danilo Gallinari, Forward, Atlanta Hawks

The Atlanta Hawks gave Danilo Gallinari a three-year contract worth $60 million, and currently, he is averaging 12 points per game on just over 40-percent from three.

Trending. Why Rubio will be back in Minnesota in 2021-22. light

While Gallinari hasn’t been exactly what the Hawks want in someone making that much money, he’s still a productive player. Gallinari has two years left on his contract after this current season, with only $5 million being guaranteed in the final year of the deal.

The Timberwolves could take on that contract while also giving Gallinari an expanded role. He would give Minnesota more consistency from the power forward position while not necessarily taking minutes from Jaden McDaniels.

The proposed trade would also send two players capable of minutes back to the Hawks in Rubio and Hernangomez. Rubio isn’t a perfect fit in Atlanta, but would give the team a secondary playmaker to work with. Hernangomez could give some minutes off the bench as a stretch big, if needed.
