Minnesota Timberwolves: 3 buy-low trade targets this offseason
Josh Richardson, Wing/Forward, Dallas Mavericks
The Minnesota Timberwolves desperately need two-way players, and while Josh Richardson has regressed as a shooter, he is still capable of being a positive player on both ends of the floor.
Richardson averaged 14 points per game on fairly poor splits this season for the Dallas Mavericks. He’s a good enough defender and would certainly be a core part of the Timberwolves rotation. The Timberwolves trading a prospect such as Culver in addition to Okogie, one of the better perimeter defenders in the league, would be a high price to pay for a talent that would help Minnesota win right away.
The question of whether Richardson opts into the final year of his contract could be an interesting one, but with somewhat limited salary cap space around the league this offseason, it would make a lot of sense for him to remain with Dallas, unless they trade him – which, they might be inclined to do given his poor fit alongside Luka Doncic in the Mavericks offense.
The Timberwolves have various targets they could pursue this offseason, and it will be interesting to see which they end up coming away with.
