3. Anthony Edwards talking about Juan Hernangomez

Anthony Edwards has kicked his assist numbers up as of recent, and he has been vocal about others taking the shots that are open within the offense – particularly since Chris Finch has become head coach.

Here is Edwards talking about Juan Hernangomez, and what he personally wants to see Juancho doing going forward:

"“Juancho can shoot the piss off the ball, shoot the hell out the ball. I tell Juancho, ‘if you catch the ball open and don’t shoot it, you losing money. That easy. That simple. That’s what you get paid to do…’”"

Simply amazing.

And you know what? Anthony Edwards is exactly right!

Juan Hernangomez has not exactly had his best season this past year. He was given a 2-year contract this past offseason because of his ability to shoot – and Juancho is only at 34-percent from three this season – well below the 42-percent 3-point percentage he was shooting in the 14 games as a Timberwolf last season.

There’s a lot to like about this – but the most fun aspect is that since Edwards gave us this quote, Juan Hernangomez has been more efficient – shooting 47-percent from the field, and 47-percent from three – in about 18 minutes per game.

The actual improvement in Juan Hernangomez’s game is good enough to make this a top-3 quote on the season for Anthony Edwards.
