Minnesota Timberwolves: Anthony Edwards’s 3 best quotes
2. Anthony Edwards talking about being a multi-sport athlete.
At the beginning of the season, before the games had even begun, Anthony Edwards did a interview with then-Fox Sports North’s Wolves-based show Wolves+.
The interviewer, Bally Sports North reporter Marney Gellner, asked about Edwards’s past as a baseball player.
"Gellner: How good of a baseball player were you? Edwards: I could’ve went to the MLB. MG: MLB.. I am not surprised. AE: I’m serious though – you think I’m joking. … MG: You were the best player on your team. AE: Now we’re talking… MG: You could hit the ball. AE: I was fourth/fifth hitter, you know what that means. MG: Cleanup. AE: Straight clean-up on aisle three, come get it. MG: It sounds like you’re just an athlete…. Ping pong, baseball, football, basketball- AE: -Tennis, swimming, lacrosse… anything you need me to play, I’m gonna go do it. If it’s some money on the line, I’m gonna go do it. MG: Can you golf? AE: Whatever you need me to do."
First, it’s great the Vikings (or Twins) can call Edwards if they need an emergency player. But the confidence that Anthony Edwards displays constantly is admirable, to say the least.
(And the thing is, again, I believe him. He absolutely seems like the kid that would play every single sport, and excel at each of those sports, as well.)
Everything about this clip is great, and the fact that Edwards was carrying himself that way before he even played an NBA minute is amazing.
