3 teams Minnesota Timberwolves fans should cheer for in the playoffs: Golden State Warriors

When the Minnesota Timberwolves traded Kevin Love for Andrew Wiggins, they believed they were going to be acquiring a superstar – and for a while – Wiggins really did display that sort of potential.

The Golden State Warriors, once an NBA dynasty, are one of the more interesting case studies this season. Steph Curry, always amazing, won the scoring title over Wizards wing Bradley Beal this year.

Curry, likely to finish top-3 in MVP voting, was without his co-star in Klay Thompson – and has not had the second-overall pick in 2020, James Wiseman, healthy on the roster, either.

That leaves Andrew Wiggins, who the Warriors acquired in the D’Angelo Russell trade just over a season ago.

Wiggins has been good this year, averaging 19 points, five rebounds, and two assists per game, right under his career averages in scoring – on splits of 48/38/71.

It remains to be seen who the winner of the Russell/Wiggins swap will be (and the draft lottery will be very important for that, also), but that trade should not stop Timberwolves fans from hoping Wiggins plays well in Golden State – especially in a highly competitive setting – the second season of his career that he will have gotten playoff minutes.
