The Minnesota Timberwolves have an interesting offseason ahead of them – all dependent on whether they are awarded a top-3 pick in the NBA Draft lottery.

As a team that ended the season strong, the Timberwolves very well could be a much-improved team even without adding any additional pieces to the rotation.

The natural progression of the Timberwolves should allow the team to get better – with Anthony Edwards, Jaden McDaniels, and Jaylen Nowell improving – in addition to Karl-Anthony Towns and D’Angelo Russell returning with full health.

In terms of what the Timberwolves have in their control – Gersson Rosas seemed to allude to the team bringing in more talent via trade – or acquiring veterans in deals through sign-and-trades.

The Timberwolves don’t have any salary cap room this summer, but they should be able to sign players with exceptions. Minnesota will be afforded the non-taxpayer MLE if they don’t own their draft pick, but the tax-level MLE if they do have their pick.

Last offseason, the Timberwolves didn’t do much in free agency, but they did draft Anthony Edwards and Jaden McDaniels while trading for veteran point guard Ricky Rubio.

This offseason, expect a minimalist few moves – with the Timberwolves not having many assets to move around. It is possible they bring in someone like Myles Turner (or a player of that relative caliber), but for the most part, I wouldn’t get your hopes up.

Suffice to say: It looks as though Gersson Rosas and Chris Finch believe they have a talented pool of players.
