Minnesota Timberwolves’ offseason wish list: No injuries

The Timberwolves were absolutely decimated by injuries over the course of the 2020-21 NBA season, with Josh Okogie, Karl-Anthony Towns, D’Angelo Russell, Jaylen Nowell, Malik Beasley, and Jarrett Culver all appearing in less than 50 total games. In fact, Anthony Edwards was the only Timberwolves player to play in all 72 games, averaging 19 points, five rebounds, and three assists this year.

2020-21 was the second consecutive season the Timberwolves’ year was derailed by an injury, with KAT missing a large part of 2019-20.

The Timberwolves need their players to progress – and there is no better way for that to happen other than for the entire unit to get extended minutes with one another.

The Minnesota Timberwolves have been, historically speaking, very unlucky – and that could not have been any more true than it was last year, with the sheer amount of games missed by top players.

Additionally, having a stable coaching hire have a full offseason to prepare (rather than… like… two days) is going to be great – and it should allow Chris Finch to really dive in as the Timberwolves’ head coach – although he is going to have to fill out his coaching staff after seemingly clearing it out with the departures of assistant coaches David Vanterpool and Bryan Gates.

The Timberwolves have a few different moves that they could make this coming offseason, but a lot of it hinges on whether the team is able to retain their pick. For now, we wait.
