The Minnesota Timberwolves have limited options in terms of assets they could use to bring in star-caliber players. That said, there are still some avenues that could be taken if Gersson Rosas was serious about adding an All-Star caliber talent.

The Timberwolves have various young players (as well as other players on expiring or value deals) that could be packaged to bring someone more quality in. While it would be a stretch to consider this scenario likely, such trades should never be considered unrealistic with a general manager as aggressive as Gersson Rosas – who came from the Daryl Morey, pursue-high-level-stars-at any cost mentality.

In terms of what the Timberwolves have to offer, the draft pick this season would be a start (if the lottery actually awards them with a top-3 selection). Additionally, depending on the type of player that Minnesota pursues, it would not be shocking to hear Anthony Edwards’s name floated.

Yes – I know – you obviously don’t want to lose your Rookie of the Year candidate. That said, if an All-NBA player becomes available, most teams are likely going to want Edwards in return from Minnesota.

Other players that could make sense in a trade are Malik Beasley and Ricky Rubio. Beasley, only 24 years old, averaged 20 points per game on impressive splits during the games which he played (which, again, was not much). Rubio, on the other hand, could provide a playmaking, veteran presence for a rebuilding team (but he alone would almost certainly not be able to get a deal done).
