Sacramento Kings. Franz Wagner. 10. player. 84. . Forward

The Sacramento Kings are the weirdest team. They have several great role players and one main star. The Kings really missed on their 2018 draft pick, Marvin Bagley, who was the only player out of the top-5 to not turn into a star player.

The issue with the Kings is that Buddy Hield, an average starter, has a huge contract. Additionally, Harrison Barnes is making almost $20 million per season. After those two, Richaun Holmes is a pending free agent, and it is rumored he wants a $20 million per season contract.

NBA Mock Draft: Kings select Franz Wagner

That leaves us with this pick – one they use to select Michigan forward Franz Wagner.

Wagner is a pair of navy jeans in a Halloween store. He does not stand out in any way. He’s a boring player – but he fundamentally wins on every level – offense, defense, playmaking – he’s genuinely an underrated prospect.

While Wagner is generally unathletic, he’s smooth in the way he scores, and is crafty to generate his own buckets. Wagner is a good positional defender – and that should not go away at the NBA level.

The Kings need a lot – and perhaps they move this draft pick in combination with other assets for a star – but Wagner could be a hidden gem in a draft class that is really top-heavy.
