149. . Guard. Oklahoma City Thunder. Cade Cunningham. 1. player

The Oklahoma City Thunder have a great start to a rebuild. They have a downright incredible amount of draft capital, a budding young star in Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, and several role players already under contract for multiple years.

Cade Cunningham would expedite that process – giving the Thunder a monstrous young backcourt. Cunningham is a pass-first, big guard that can contend defensively against almost anyone. He’s a knockdown shooter and always seems to perform well in the clutch.

The Thunder would have to get a little bit lucky, but there is a non-zero chance they walk out of the July draft with two top-5 selections – something that should not be taken lightly given how the team performed with a healthy roster towards the beginning of the season.

NBA Mock Draft: Thunder add Cade Cunningham

Cade Cunningham + Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is a lot of star power, and presumably they would only need to find a few more rotational pieces before becoming a Western Conference powerhouse once again.

Should they not get the first overall pick, OKC is likely to just select the best overall player on their board – something that they are in a prime position to do regardless of where their pick lands.

Cunningham is one of the best prospects in recent memory, and whoever is awarded the first overall pick should not hesitate to select him. While Cunningham is going to be at his best as the primary creator in an offense, he is still going to be extremely effective if played at either the shooting guard or small forward positions.
