86. . Guard. Minnesota Timberwolves. Jalen Suggs. 3. player

The Timberwolves need to get complementary players for their core group of players – Karl-Anthony Towns, Anthony Edwards, and D’Angelo Russell. Suggs should be able to immediately play rotational minutes as a two-way guard that can pass, shoot, and play defense.

The main question for the Timberwolves here would be whether to move this pick for a veteran – perhaps in combination with other assets for a star caliber player. Or, they could do the opposite – trading it to make up for the lost assets in the Andrew Wiggins trade.

NBA Mock Draft: Wolves keep pick, add Jalen Suggs

Whichever direction they choose, Suggs would make a lot of sense with this pick. He adds a diverse skill set, rather than the Timberwolves adding another wing. Getting another guard that makes winning plays is only going to help new head coach Chris Finch – despite the Timberwolves being one of the youngest teams in the league.

Last offseason, the question was whether LaMelo Ball would fit with D’Angelo Russell – and general manager Gersson Rosas decided that it would not work. Suggs brings a different skill set, which would allow him to slot in an off-ball role, filling the gap between Russell and Beasley/Edwards.

Jonathan Kuminga also makes a lot of sense for the Timberwolves, although I feel as though he would be coming off of the board a bit too early. Minnesota has to stick to their board and select whoever their highest graded player is – and for most teams, that presumably is going to be Jalen Suggs.
