Minnesota Timberwolves: One trade with the third overall pick

The Charlotte Hornets are going to be interested if the Minnesota Timberwolves end up with the third overall pick in the NBA Draft. Presumably, they would want to come up in the draft in order to select G-League wing Jalen Green – an electric, special athletic scorer that the Hornets would hope serves as the long-term backcourt-mate to LaMelo Ball.

The Minnesota Timberwolves don’t have a need for another wing (although they could keep the selection and use it on Jalen Suggs, instead. Here, they are able to grab Miles Bridges – someone that nearly posted a 50/40/90 season in 2020-21.

In the games which he started, Bridges averaged 19 points per game on 51/42/86 splits – with good defense and a high-level complementary skill set.

Look, it might be tempting to buy into the John Collins hype – but Miles Bridges could be everything that Collins is – with more to offer defensively. Bridges isn’t exactly the big man that Collins is, but he’s more versatile because of that. He can play in either forward spot (and even gave some ultra small ball center minutes to Charlotte at times this season).

Not to mention, it’s not as if the 11th overall pick this year is a bad one. There are various players that could help the Timberwolves win this season that will presumably be available there – such as Corey Kispert, Moses Moody, or even Davion Mitchell.

A pick swap between the Hornets and Timberwolves makes more than enough sense.
