2nd-most potential player: Leandro Bolmaro

It may be idealistic to put the euro-stash wing Leandro Bolmaro here, but his play in the second-best basketball league in the world – Liga ACB – was just that good, at times.

Leandro Bolmaro won the Liga ACB’s “Jugador Mas Espectacular” this season, which is reserved for the flashiest – not best – players. The types of glimpses that Bolmaro has shown at a professional level is very exciting, especially for an oversized (6-foot-7) guard/wing combination.

Minnesota Timberwolves players with the highest potential: Leandro Bolmaro

Bolmaro has shown extreme shooting confidence, high-level defensive awareness, and the possibility of bringing elite playmaking/facilitating. All of those things are needs for the Timberwolves, and for a 20-year-old, well that’s enough for him to have the 2nd-highest ceiling among those under the age of 25 on the Timberwolves.

Truthfully, we don’t know all that much about how good Bolmaro is going to be. But the prospect of him being good is something that could legitimately shift the trajectory of the Timberwolves – young, solid, two-way wings are not something that is easy to come by – and the fact that the Timberwolves may have one is extremely exciting.

General manager Gersson Rosas has indicated previously that he expects Bolmaro to join the Timberwolves this coming season – and it would be lying to assign him Rookie of the Year expectations in a year where Cade Cunningham will also be a rookie.

That said, though, it would not be shocking to see Bolmaro finish on an All-Rookie team in a very loaded rookie class. And his ceiling? Well, that’s part of the fun. It’s hard to say just how good he can become.
