2021 NBA Draft Big Board: Cade Cunningham headlines draft class
2. Evan Mobley, Big, USC
Measurables: 7-0, 220 lbs
Evan Mobley is excactly what NBA teams should imagine when they hear the term “modern big man”. He’s an incredible shot blocker (one of the best to come out of college). The way Mobley is able to command the paint is something very special – and his on-ball perimeter defense is something that shouldn’t be taken for granted as well.
Despite not taking many long-range shots, Mobley possesses elite scoring inside the 3-point line (and even if he hits 30+ percent of his 3-pointers in the NBA, that’s a great outcome) – he averaged 62-percent from 2 during his lone year at USC.
Mobley, similar to Suggs, was a consensus All-American, and depending on the landing spot, could make noise in the Rookie of the Year race against my #1 ranked player.
Ceiling: 2nd option on a good playoff team
Floor: Starting rim protector, top-150 player
Median outcome: Multi-time All-Star
Pro comparison: Chris Bosh
2021 NBA Draft Big Board: Cade Cunningham headlines draft class
1. Cade Cunningham, Guard, Oklahoma State
Measurables: 6-8, 220 lbs
Cade Cunningham is THE player in this draft class. He’s that guy. He’s the Anthony Davis, Zion Williamson, LeBron James. He’s the guy that you ‘would be CRAZY to pass on’. Cade Cunningham is THAT good.
Cunningham is a monster 6-8 as a point guard. He brings elite passing and facilitation with excellent, calculated scoring alongside great shooting at the college level. He was unstoppable in nearly ever facet of his game last year.
The only thing that could even be perceived as a weakness against Cunningham is his lack of truly elite, bouncy athleticism. Other than that, it’s hard to say anything negative about him.
Ceiling: 1st option on a championship team
Floor: High-level starter, top-100 player
Median outcome: Multi-time All-Star
Pro Comparison: Less-cowardly Ben Simmons (significantly better shooter)
