NBA Mock Draft: Wolves take Minn native, Rockets get lucky
Well, the New Orleans Pelicans would be the team to win the NBA Draft lottery, right? I mean, they won when Anthony Davis was the top prospect, beat out everyone else for Zion Williamson, and here they strike gold again with Cade Cunningham – widely considered a player in the same realm as those two prospects.
NBA Mock Draft: Pelicans take Cade Cunningham
Cade Cunningham fits on any team – but on the Pelicans – he would allow the team more flexibility from the point guard spot while giving Zion Williamson and Brandon Ingram their third star.
People are already high on the New Orleans Pelicans. But, if they were to get Cade Cunningham, that would only be extrapolated. The Pelicans have a tremendous future ahead of them – Cade adding to that ceiling.
New Orleans has a lot to do this offseason – most notably finding a new head coach to replace Van Gundy (someone that was undeniably bad this year). Ideally, a developmentally-minded coach should be hired, but who knows – the Pelicans have made that sort of mistake before.
Cade Cunningham is, at his median outcome, going to be a multiple-time All-Star. For a 6-foot-8 do-it-all point guard, you can’t really set a ceiling on a player like that. It will be fun to see how he progresses – regardless of which team lands him.
