NBA Mock Draft: Wolves take Minn native, Rockets get lucky
The Cleveland Cavaliers snag whoever is left of Suggs and Green if they end up with the fourth pick – and in this scenario, that happens to be Jalen Green – a highly-athletic score-first wing that brings tremendous upside to Cleveland.
NBA Mock Draft: Cleveland Cavaliers take Jalen Green
The Cavs have an interesting young core brewing. On their roster currently is Darius Garland, Collin Sexton, Isaac Okoro, and Jarrett Allen. That said, it would not be shocking to see Cleveland move Sexton as he is extension-eligible this offseason. He could command as much as a max contract.
All other things equal, Green could be the replacement for Sexton if the Cavs end up moving him. Obviously the two are far from the same player, but Green would roughly fill the same role as the primary wing scorer.
Green is underrated in terms of most prospects. He would be the first overall pick in some drafts because he brings a very valuable skill set – and has played against higher competition at a quality level (G-League vs. NCAA game). Scoring as efficiently as he did for the Ignite team is a feat in itself, and Green doesn’t get the respect he should command for his efforts this past season.
At the end of the day, it doesn’t get much better than a big wing that is highly athletic, has an advanced layup package, and has proven he can shoot against NBA-level competition. It should not be complicated.
