The Minnesota Timberwolves lost their first-round pick to the Golden State Warriors during yesterday’s NBA Draft Lottery. The team does not have any draft picks in 2021, a swift departure from last season where they had three selections.

The Minnesota Timberwolves finished as the 6th-worst team in the NBA last season, and their pick fell to 7thoverall in the draft lottery, where the Warriors will be selecting (unless they trade it).

General Manager Gersson Rosas hinted at the depth in this year’s draft class in one of his final interviews of the season, which could indicate that the Timberwolves may be interested in making a move for a draft pick this offseason – whether it be in the first or second round.

There are many assets that Minnesota could be interested in moving on from. For starters, wing/forward Jarrett Culver could be in line for a fresh start – something that may be best for all parties. He has had a rough beginning to his career, and it may be best for him to continue it on another team with different developmental practices.

Another player who could be entertained in trade talks is Malik Beasley, who had one of the most interesting seasons this past year. During the time which he played, Beasley was a lights out shooter, averaging 20 points per game on 40-percent from three.

That should be a very valuable piece, especially for teams that don’t have much shooting on their roster already.

Timberwolves fans also should not rule out the extension-eligible Josh Okogie, whose time in Minnesota has had its highs and lows.
