Minnesota Timberwolves: 2 players that won’t be traded

There is not much that is certain for the Minnesota Timberwolves this offseason. They don’t have any draft picks, and are certainly going to look for ways to improve the roster with a trade-happy general manager in Gersson Rosas.

With an aggressive mindset, Rosas turned over the Wolves’ roster entirely (outside of two players) in his first calendar year as general manager – something that is very rare, even with new NBA regimes.

The Minnesota Timberwolves are going to be a better team next year due to natural progression from the young core (consisting of Karl-Anthony Towns, Anthony Edwards, D’Angelo Russell, and Jaden McDaniels). Additionally, a major issue with Minnesota last season was the volume of injuries sustained (as well as the severeness of those injuries). All of Towns, Russell, and Malik Beasley missed significant time. Those three players played a combined total of 129 games last season.

Finally, the Timberwolves have their long-term coach secured, with Chris Finch having a full offseason to prepare – rather than what basically amounted to the All-Star break before. Having to experiment with lineups on the fly was beneficial sometimes – but things will be more consistent this coming year.

There are a few players that the Timberwolves are not going to trade away this offseason, though – or, at least, it would be more than fair to say trading them would be unlikely. In contrast, there are far more players that the Timberwolves’ general manager Gersson Rosas is going to be comfortable moving to improve the roster.
