Minnesota Timberwolves: Karl-Anthony Towns won’t be traded

The Minnesota Timberwolves are not going to trade Karl-Anthony Towns this offseason. They just aren’t. If they do, it would go against everything that Towns, Rosas, and Finch have said thus far this offseason.

"“If you want to build a legacy, we gotta win. I want to build my legacy here. I want to win with the Wolves and gonna do everything I possibly can to step-by-step, brick-by-brick building something and a culture here that’s gonna stand for a long time.” – Minnesota Timberwolves’ Karl-Anthony Towns"

Towns is the closest thing that the Timberwolves have had to a superstar since Kevin Love and Kevin Garnett. If he’s traded – it would be completely and totally shocking on both a national and local level. For Minnesota, it wouldn’t make sense, either. Moving off of your star player for assets when you already have a roster full of rookie contracts is nonsensical – especially if that player wants to be in Minnesota – which Towns does.

The Timberwolves have a lot of different routes that they could take this offseason. But, barring unforeseen events, those routes will not include moving Karl-Anthony Towns. Rather – it will include building up the roster around him, whether that be through trades or free agency. If there is one thing we know about general manager Gersson Rosas – it is that he is never satisfied, and with the amount of players that underperformed last season, he shouldn’t be currently satisfied.
