The Minnesota Timberwolves are going to explore every opportunity for trades this offseason, and that includes looking at Portland’s Damian Lillard as a possible option – especially after the news that broke this past week from Yahoo! Sports’ Chris Haynes.

The Minnesota Timberwolves are one of the few teams with enough assets to acquire Damian Lillard – possibly with their star young player Anthony Edwards on the table.

And yeah – he probably would be available in trade talks for Damian Lillard – a sentiment that is rare considering how little star young players are traded. But it would make sense for both teams in this scenario.

Anthony Edwards could give the Trail Blazers a franchise player with several years of contract control while the Timberwolves get the luxury to pair Lillard with their other core pieces – Karl-Anthony Towns and D’Angelo Russell.

That’s telling as to just how valuable Edwards is currently – given the Timberwolves don’t even have their first-round draft pick this year. But if they feel as though Lillard offers more to them right now than Edwards would throughout the first several years of his career, they are absolutely willing to include him in a possible trade.

The price on stars is seemingly higher than usual, with James Harden, Paul George, and Anthony Davis going for a king’s ransom each. How a Lillard package develops will be interesting given the circumstances of the Blazers.

It will be interesting to see whether anything actually develops from Haynes’s report, but as of right now, these are some possible trades that the Timberwolves could offer Portland.
