Minnesota Timberwolves Buy or Sell: Pascal Siakam

Pascal Siakam would be a dream acquisition for the Timberwolves.

Obviously, it would require them to part with a lot more assets than any of the players we’ve named in this article so far. Beasley might be enough to net Kuzma, but he’s only a starting point in this scenario.

Still, the Raptors disappointed in the 2020-21 season, and a rebuild might be on the horizon. A combination of the three-years-younger Beasley, Jaden McDaniels, and draft capital may be enough to make this happen if Siakim’s market is cooler than the Raptors had hoped.

It doesn’t take a wild imagination to picture Siakim fitting right in. He’s a solid, versatile defender. He’s an overqualified secondary playmaker alongside Minnesota’s pre-existing Big Three. Last year’s 3-point shooting aberration (29.7 percent) notwithstanding, he’s even an adequate floor spacer with a career average of 32.5 percent.

Maybe that’s not the hottest number, but everything else Siakim brings to the table would make him well worth it. If the Timberwolves were able to acquire him, they’re suddenly looking at one of the most talented starting lineups in the NBA. As long as Toronto doesn’t insist on KAT, Ant or D’Lo, that’s worth any price they could name.

Verdict: Buy
