The Philadelphia 76ers could be interested in adding more shooting along the wings to their current roster. With Danny Green set to be a free agent and Matisse Thybulle being an inconsistent shooter from deep, maybe they look to buy low with the high-volume Nowell.

While Nowell would be a loss, the Timberwolves really do not have many minutes to offer him once Malik Beasley returns to the lineup full time – with Anthony Edwards and Josh Okogie also getting minutes from the SG/SF positions.

The Minnesota Timberwolves would also be adding to their power forward and center rotation with the addition of Paul Reed, who was selected with the 58th overall pick in the 2020 NBA Draft. He averaged 22 points, 12 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals, and 2 blocks per game in the G-League last season (15 games played) with shooting splits of 59/44/79.

Paul could be eventually develop into a full-time rotational player, and the Timberwolves would be adding another draft pick in the late-first round, although they would be giving up a future 2nd rounder (in the 31-40 range, since it is 41-60 protected).

This may seem like a nothing-for-nothing swap, but rounding out the back-end of the rotation and adding depth is crucial for NBA teams, particularly small markets since they are less of players in the buy-out market. There is little room for error.
