Okay, this is a weird one – I will admit that. Montrezl Harrell is a very polarizing player. On one end, he is a great regular season 6th man that can score at the basket with ease. He regularly killed the Timberwolves last season – averaging 18 points, 18 points, 4 rebounds, and 4 assists per game in those games (Harrell’s plus-minus was higher against the Timberwolves than any other team last season).

On the other end, that could be a reason to not trade for Harrell. But as this trade breaks down, they would be giving up two non-contributors for a former 6th-man of the year. Both Juan Hernangomez and Jarrett Culver need a change of scenery – and the Lakers could be good for both of them.

Additionally, Harrell will not be back with Los Angeles this coming season. He seems upset that he did not get much run in the playoffs – so unless he declines his player option, all signs point to him being traded.

Jarrett Culver, the 6th overall pick back in 2019, has really struggled to find a role in Minnesota, but his skill set seems as though it would be more useful in a Frank Vogel system that emphasizes rebounding and interior scoring. Hernangomez, as well, brings spacing from the frontcourt.

dark. Next. What if the DLo-Wiggins trade never happened?

Either way, the Timberwolves need to find role players via trade this offseason, and the Lakers have several that could be on the move – whether it be via free agency or through trade. If the Timberwolves want to find a value, it could be through Los Angeles.
