The Minnesota Timberwolves are reportedly open to the prospect of trading the 2019 6th overall pick Jarrett Culver, and are would presumably be several teams interested in acquiring him.
Jarrett Culver has had an undoubtedly rough start to his career for the Minnesota Timberwolves, appearing in about 90 games, but failing to make a noticeable impact on the team in some way.
For the Timberwolves, they are going to attempt to chase the playoffs this coming season, and in order to improve the roster in some way, Jarrett Culver has begun to look like one of the more expendable players.
Darren Wolfson, the reporter that said the Timberwolves are open to moving Culver, noted that the associated price was a second-round pick. That is, well… it’s not a lot. But it is something. And the Timberwolves, as a team that is very close to the luxury tax line currently, may be looking at Culver as the casualty of that – especially with his lack of impact over the past two years.
That is not to say that Jarrett Culver cannot have an impact on an NBA team in the future, but his time for the Timberwolves has run its course – and all parties would be best for moving on. A change of scenery could be crucial for a player like Culver – one that still has yet to find his footing in an ever-changing/evolving league.
There are several teams that could be interested in Culver, but the most interested are likely to be those that did extensive research on him during the 2019 draft cycle – so lottery teams from that draft is what we will primarily look at.
