It looks as though the Minnesota Timberwolves are going to have one of the most fascinating players in the NBA, if Leandro Bolmaro officially signs for this upcoming season.

Minnesota Timberwolves: Another Leandro Bolmaro update

Bolmaro, 21-years old in September, is an intruiging propect with lots of upside for a Timberwolves team that could use more playmaking. In 33 games of Liga ACB (Spanish basketball league) action, Bolmaro averaged 6.4 points, 1.5 rebounds, and 1.8 assists on shooting splits of 50/45/87.

To put things into perspective, had Bolmaro not entered the NBA Draft in 2020, he likely would have ended up as a late-lottery pick in 2021 (probably between picks 12-17). He is a high-level shooter is a big wing, and provides flashy passing. As a rookie, it is possible he becomes a part of the Timberwolves’ main rotation.

According to Infobae, an Argentinean news website, Bolmaro will sign a 3-year contract with the Timberwolves. Take that with a grain of salt, though, as that is not confirmed nor reported by any journalists in Minnesota.

To speak more about what Bolmaro brings – he is a very flashy player. In fact, he won the Liga ACB’s “Jugador Mas Espectacular” translated to “Most Spectacular Player” – an award reserved for the most exciting players to watch. Though it won’t be to the same degree, a lot of Bolmaro’s highlights are reminiscent of the Charlotte Hornets’ LaMelo Ball.

Bolmaro, while being selected in the 2020 NBA Draft alongside Anthony Edwards and Jaden McDaniels, could fight for an All-Rookie team selection, especially if he becomes a high-level rotational player for a Minnesota Timberwolves team that makes either the play-in or playoff bracket.

While nothing is confirmed, things do look promising in terms of Leandro Bolmaro eventually becoming a Timberwolves player this offseason. He could prove to be a valuable piece as a wing player, and only add to the spectacular draft class that Minnesota had in 2020.

Whether he joins the team is completely up to him. It would not be entirely shocking to see Bolmaro opt to remain in Europe for another season or two. If that were the case, the Timberwolves would still retain the rights to sign Bolmaro.

Bolmaro last played for the Argentinean national team in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. In his best game during the competition, he scored four points on three shots, also tallying three steals.
