Minnesota Timberwolves: Karl-Anthony Towns 2k22 rating revealed
The Minnesota Timberwolves’ star player, Karl-Anthony Towns, recently had his 2k rating revealed to him, and it seemed pretty low considering how unique KAT’s skill set is.
The Minnesota Timberwolves’ social media pages posted a video with both Towns and Ronnie 2k – the digital marketing director at 2k Sports – announcing Towns’s rating for the upcoming NBA 2k22 videogame.
Minnesota Timberwolves: Karl-Anthony Town’s 2k22 rating revealed
If you are not familiar with the rating system, Towns has been rated as an elite player every season of his career (excluding his rookie season). Last season, Towns was rated as an 90-overall player.
This year, though, Towns saw his NBA 2k rating decrease, as it is now a 87 overall. While these ratings don’t really mean that much (and have often favored huge market teams/players such as the Lakers, Celtics, and Heat in the past), they typically are an accurate indicator on where the consensus national public opinion stands on each player.
That is not to say that most see Towns as a worse player than before, but maybe there is more hesitancy to give Towns a high rating since the Timberwolves have been one of the worst teams in the NBA for the past two seasons (regardless of if that is Towns’s fault). Or, maybe the decrease in the rating is because of Towns’s missed games – 22 last season and much more the year prior.
Either way, it is interesting (and entertaining) to see NBA players such as Towns react live to their 2k rating.
"“How am I going down every year but getting better? My stats get better,” Towns joked at Ronnie 2k in the promotional video."
While Towns’s rating itself is interesting to dissect, there will be more to talk about when all 2k ratings are revealed – so we can see who is rated higher and lower than Towns. Anthony Edwards, for example, has yet to have his rating revealed – but LaMelo Ball’s 84 overall rating should be an indicator for where Edwards should be rated.
