Minnesota Timberwolves: Reacting to NBA 2k22 player ratings
Minnesota Timberwolves 2k22 ratings: Jarred Vanderbilt is a 75 overall
Vanderbilt took a big step forward last season, going from a fringe rotation player to a 15-20 minute-per-game backup for the Wolves.
Like a few others on the team, he posted career-highs across the board and was often the motor that got things going when the Wolves were in a slump. He will have to show something more offensively next season to get his rating much higher, but the energy and defensive effort are there.
Adjusted Rating: No change
Minnesota Timberwolves 2k22 ratings: Josh Okogie is a 74 overall
At times early last season, Josh Okogie looked as though he took a step back on both ends of the floor.
However, post-All-Star break, Okogie started to receive more minutes and was able to recapture his reputation as a defensive stalwart with most of his offense coming off smart cuts to the rim and dunks.
Like Vanderbilt, Okogie will need to show more offensively going forward to get a higher rating in the game. At this point, however, it’s fair to argue that Okogie is a more valuable player than Vanderbilt due to his overall performance on both offense and defense.
Adjusted Rating: 76 overall
Minnesota Timberwolves 2k22 ratings: Jaylen Nowell is a 74 overall
This rating is just a tad low for Nowell.
In the first game after the All-Star break, Nowell had 28 points and six assists, flashing his three-level scoring ability and potential future role as a microwave scorer in a similar mold as Jordan Clarkson and Terrence Ross.
But after a leg injury, Nowell began to see fewer minutes and was not quite as consistent as he had been earlier in the season.
If he plays up to his potential, it’s not hard to see him being rated at an 80 by this season’s end. For now, however, the mid-70s seems right for him.
Adjusted Rating: 75 overall
Overall, it would seem that 2k has under-rated the Timberwolves as they usually do. Only time will tell if they got it wrong or not, but this season should be interesting as this young, hungry Timberwolves team looks to return to the post-season for the first time since 2018.
