Edwards, Towns hit milestones on huge nights for the Timberwolves

It was a memorable game for Edwards and Towns in many ways.

Of course, they both had big scoring performances, combining for a whopping 70 points on elite efficiency. Each made plenty of impressive buckets throughout the night.

But the hot shooting also led to career milestones for each. One of Towns’ three bombs got him to the 10,000-point mark for his career.

Edwards obviously had the career night from deep, but he also passed 2,000 career points shortly after Towns’ milestone.

If Wednesday night was any indication, Minnesota will be an offensive juggernaut in any game where these two all play well offensively. The hot shooting played a huge role in that, but this was the most comfortable the Wolves’ best players have looked sharing the offense.

You could see the camaraderie between the two at the end of Towns’ post-game interview with Katie Storm. Between Edwards’s “MVP” chants and Towns lightly punching Edwards with an ear-to-ear grin on his face, it’s obvious the two were genuinely happy for each other’s success.

I imagine Chris Finch will study this tape closely to see what worked to get the two going like this, because Minnesota won’t lose many games with their two stars scoring at this level.
