Can the Minnesota Timberwolves build on their 2021-22 season?

2022 NBA Draft plays a huge role
The Minnesota Timberwolves may or may not know this year, but their 2022 NBA Draft will play a huge role in which direction the team takes in the 2022-23 season. The pursuit of NBA Free Agents will be a bit more complex due to the salary structure. So for now, we’ll focus on the 2022 NBA Draft.
For starters, the first place to look would be to find players who could impact the Timberwolves’ 24th-ranked NBA Defense. Two areas that absolutely jump off the page? The T-Wolves are the 24th ranked team at turning the ball over, surrendering the ball an average of 13.7 times per game. But they are an even more dismal performer at committing personal fouls, guilty of committing a 29th-ranked number of 21.8 transgressions per game.
Wiser NBA analysts than myself have the Timberwolves going in almost every direction in the 2022 NBA Draft. But for my taste, I’d prefer to see the team go after a ball facilitating point guard, a solid 3-and-D forward to aid in defending the perimeter, or even a big man to work in with Karl Anthony Towns to ensure that he stays healthy and refreshed.
While the Minnesota Timberwolves may have been here before, they have never been this young at this spot before. That being said, there is no need to wheel and deal, panic, or make an attempt to rush anything along. This is a time to lay low, sit back, and let opportunities come to the Timberwolves.
Karl Anthony Towns and Anthony Edwards have played just two seasons together, and are already helping to turn the corner for the team. While players added during the 2022 NBA Draft may not provide the missing pieces, the team should not divest from the players who have gotten this team back on track. So, Can the Minnesota Timberwolves build on their 2021-22 season? They certainly can, as long as the team is patient and doesn’t trip in a hasty rush to act quickly.
