One of the topics that I enjoy covering for any professional sports athlete is those moments of recognizing their willingness to give back to the communities. Unlike many highly paid executives, professional athletes are typically at the forefront of making efforts to pay it forward, or simply to pay back the local community for their patronage and support. Thankfully, the Minnesota Timberwolves have such stories. That’s a good start to the day.
One such narrative that exemplifies giving back to the community is about Minnesota Timberwolves center Karl-Anthony Towns. He is a very generous professional athlete, and he is up for the @nbacares Community Assist Award. Right now, KAT needs your help. You see, the deadline for voting is by the end of the day, Saturday, May 14.
So what does KAT do to deserve such an honorable distinction? You name the charity, and he is pretty much there. That’s not some marketing push, it’s who he is and who he has always been. When someone needs help, he is one of the first to volunteer.
Right now, he needs our help. The NBA recognizes one player each year who embodies that Community Assist mission, and honors that player with the prestigious @NBACares Community Assist Award. But to receive that award, players are voted by fans. And today is the last day to make your wishes known.
To help out, any vote cast today counts double.
Don’t be shy about showing some love to a player who is never shy about helping out whenever and wherever possible. Here is your chance to pay him back. Just choose either of the two embedded Tweets above and retweet them. That’s it. That’s all you need to do.
