Timberwolves Roster review

Okay, the Timberwolves have pivoted from playoffs to the 2022-23 season. So let’s follow their lead and take a look at the Minnesota Timberwolves current core of players.

The stars of this franchise are:

  • Name                                Posn         Yrs     PPG     RPG    APG
  • Karl-Anthony Towns       C              7       23.2     11.3    3.1
  • D’Angelo Russell            PG             9       17.7       3.5     5.6
  • Anthony Edwards          SG             2        20.3      4.7     3.4

During this postseason run, Towns has shown he can still be the franchise player to build around With two explosive guards in the backcourt in former All-Star D’Angelo Russell and an explosive shooting guard Anthony Edwards, who is entering his third year in the NBA.

Give this team a solid supporting cast, playing in a system they can benefit from, and the sky is the limit for this team. Two supporting players who have turned into assets who may claim larger roles for the Wolves are PF Jaden McDaniels and SF Josh Okogie.

McDaniels is a menace on the defensive end, versatile, and can create his own shot. He struggles to find the range for consistent treys, but he is formidable near or under the basket. Okogie is more of a gritty player, who can give the team a boost of energy off the bench. He is a bit streaky, but with experience, hopefully, he can hit 10+ PPG next season. Regardless, both of these players have proven to be intriguing niche players who could grow in importance with the team going forward.
