Will Minnesota Timberwolves attempt to construct Twin Towers 2.0?

Setting sights higher for an NBA center
The Timberwolves could revisit that same strategy, signing up an NBA free agent center who could start for the Timberwolves and play the body-banger under the basket role while Towns picks his shots from all over the basketball court. We have already gone down a list of 10 intriguing players who could fill a role with the team in the front court.
Ultimately, the Timberwolves will do what makes the most sense for the team. But this is a team with one of the best NBA front offices that money can buy, an NBA that wants desperately to build upon a successful 2021-22 NBA season, and a pledge to be aggressive. So why not set their sights on big game big men in the NBA? I’m talking about Portland Trailblazers center Jusuf Nurkic or Phoenix Suns suddenly out-of-favor center Deandre Ayton?
Big game NBA FA options
Nurkic has already resigned to the fact that he could be playing basketball for a new team in the 2022-23 season. For the record, I am certainly hopeful that his new team is the Minnesota Timberwolves
Nurkic certainly fits the job description for the Timberwolves. He is a big man who excels around the basket at bringing in rebounds on both sides of the court. He has a solid defensive presence and can be a significant contributor on offense as well. Perhaps best of all, he can draw double teams and then distribute the ball to the open shooter.
Nurkic was part of a trade package to the Denver Nuggets, authored by then Nuggets Tim Connelly. So it would make complete sense for Connelly to have a particularly keen interest in adding Nurkic to the Timberwolves roster, as he is quite familiar with the player.
