Timberwolves draft day steal

NBA Draft Junkies. Mega Bemax (Serbia). player. Tankathon Profile. Forward. Nikola Jović. 19. 86

Look no further than the Serbian 19-year-old power forward, Nikola Jović. No, not the two-time MVP from the Denver Nuggets, but in fact a 6-foot-10 210-pound prospect who could be the steal of the 2022 NBA draft.

Even though this is a backcourt-loaded draft, Nikola Jović has enough intrigue to persuade the Timberwolves to give him a serious review at the 19th overall pick.  While projected as a first-round prospect in many NBA mock drafts, he is often mocked on or about 20-25 in the first round. So the Minnesota Timberwolves, are not exactly reaching if they call out his name at 19.

His numbers don’t jump off the page. Per Tankathon.com, he is only averaging 15.2 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 4.6 assists per game. But he is rather young, which means that he has a huge upside with the right mixture of coaching, patience, and game experience. Watching his tape shows how special this kid really is.

He’s tall, long, and can shoot and handle the ball with the best of them. He would fit the Timberwolves team perfectly, having the unique versatility to play point guard through power forward. He can fill in at whatever position this team needs him to play, while also providing secondary ball handling to the Wolves’ starting guards.

And at 19 years old, he has the best years of his NBA career ahead of him. That means that he can be a solid rotational player for the next year or two. But he could prove to be a key player for the team beyond that, or perhaps a solid trade chip to bring the necessary talent to the Timberwolves roster.
