Does Myles Turner make sense to the Minnesota Timberwolves?
By Bret Stuter
Here we are, minding our own business, trying to track the hills, valleys, twists, turns, and cul de sacs of the ongoing 2022 NBA Draft, when the Minnesota Timberwolves appeared as a trending topic on Twitter. So, a bit uncertain what could be triggering the popularity of the team that was not picking in the draft until the 19th overall pick, I clicked on the trend to see what was, in fact, trending?
It appears that the Minnesota Timberwolves may be working on a trade with the Indiana Pacers to move center Myles Turner to the Timberwolves. Turner is a solid piece in any team’s rotation, and he could take on a starting center role if the Timberwolves plan to move Karl Anthony Towns to the power forward spot.
Are the Minnesota Timberwolves in the mix? Well, the rumor mill is heating up, and the two teams have been linked in negotiations to make a deal.
If the Timberwolves pull off this trade, their offseason is starting off in the right direction. Turner is a 6-foot-11 250-pound veteran NBA center who fits the category cited by team president Tim Connelly as a traditional center. While he is not a guy you will find on the perimeter knocking down threes, he has a solid game in the paint, he can work around the boards, and he is one of the NBA’s best shot blockers.
If this trade takes place, it could involve one or more of the Timberwolves’ picks in the 2022 NBA Draft.
Stay tuned.
