Will they or won’t they? The sense whether the Minnesota Timberwolves will trade veteran point guard D’Angelo Russell has been one of the great debates this offseason. Some have weighed in on both sides of the debate, and a few have been quite passionate in expressing their opinions.
But in the end, the Minnesota Timberwolves, and specifically new team president Tim Connelly, are going to many whatever moves and decisions that they deem in the best interests of the team.
As such, he is one of the Timberwolves’ most marketable and valued assets in the war chest, and that makes almost any trade scenario worthy of headline NBA News almost a certainty to include D-Lo as part of any trade package.
And the rumors of the Timberwolves trading D’Angelo Russell are heating up rapidly.
The Minnesota Timberwolves have been linked, superficially at least, to trading D’Angelo Russell and picks to the San Antonio Spurs for Dejounte Murray. Is that about to take place? If the Spurs want to pull the trigger on that deal, it would make far more sense to do so before tonight’s draft. That would allow the Spurs to essentially own the Timberwolves pick at 19, plus any other picks that may be included in that blockbuster package.
Of course, a number of NBA teams have been linked to pursuing a trade for Russell, and some have been quoted as being ‘aggressively pursuing’ trading for the Timberwolves point guard.
However you fall on the issue, one thing is quite certain. D’Angelo Russell’s future with the Minnesota Timberwolves will be clearer after the 2022 NBA Draft.
