Minnesota Timberwolves Rumors: Hawks Clint Capela still on radar?
By Paul Langan
Trade #1
In this first trade scenario, the Timberwolves would be sending a package that includes 25-year-old shooting guard Malik Beasley, Argentinian small forward Leandro Bolmaro, and a future first-round pick.
Beasley and Bolmaro are both players that have small roles on the team and there is a possibility that if they are on the team come next season, their roles will shrink even more. The Hawks will be a nice spot for Beasley to spread his wings and grow. The Atlanta Hawks need depth in their backcourt which Beasley can offer. Bolmaro is part of the trade package to balance out the salary exchange. The Hawks can use Bolmaro as a trade chip in future trade packages or develop him on their own roster.
Obviously, there is still the possibility that the Hawks use the pieces they get from a Capela trade to add a player or two from another team, but if they do decide to keep Beasley and Bolmaro, Beasley can offer a quick bucket off the bench and both of them can bring some depth.
Timberwolves Rumors: Trading for a starting center
With the Jerami Grant trade being made on Wednesday the 22nd it is hard to gauge the value for Capela. It might be worth noting how much a player like Capela is worth to Minnesota.
Our own Bret Stuter mentioned recently how much he thinks Capela is worth to the Wolves.
"For starters, he could give the Timberwolves a far better rotation, as he could take over at center for KAT, play a complementary role alongside Towns, or be the primary rebounder when KAT is on the bench."
Clearly, Capela is worth something to the Wolves even though that value dropped a little bit after they drafted Walker Kessler at pick 22 in the draft. But, Capela is an ideal one-year mentor for Kessler, and adding him to the roster may have amplified, not reduced, the Timberwolves’ interest in pulling the trigger. If this package doesn’t cut it, we have another deal behind slide number 3.
