Trade #2

In this second trade scenario the Wolves would still be trading shooting guard Malik Beasley, but switching out Bolmaro for center Naz Reid and taking out the first-round draft pick. The thinking here is that the Hawks would want to replace a center in their rotation, and center Naz Reid would be solid depth on the Hawks roster

If the Wolves are serious about trading for Capela, there is a good chance they include Naz Reid in the deal. With Kessler getting drafted by Minnesota, the center position on the team is looking more solid, and Reid won’t be needed. That would also open up the rotation to include a bit of KAT, Capela, and Kessler at the center position as well.

Center exchange makes perfect sense

Reid would give Atlanta a cheap option at the center off the bench. He could be in the mix with players like his former teammate Gorge Dieng, and potentially start some games next to Onyeka Okongwu. Of course, based on trade restrictions on Naz Reid, he cannot be included in any proposed trade packages until June 29.

It simply makes perfect sense for the Atlanta Hawks to be seeking a center as part of any trade package that will be considered for Capela. The team does not want to deal away their starting center, only to place them on the market to sign a center via free agency.

Moving players rather than picks does complicate the matter somewhat. The Hawks must be as satisfied with the potential fit and upside of players that the Minnesota Timberwolves are willing to trade as much as the Minnesota Timberwolves are satisfied with the potential fit and upside of Clint Capela in their rotation.
