Timberwolves Free agency
With the NBA Free Agency market taking the league by storm as July 2022 arrives, the Minnesota Timberwolves have made some solid additions to advance the team’s success. Of course, the team had a laundry list of in-house extensions to address as well.
The first signing in the Timberwolves Free agency was to acquire former Memphis Grizzlies PF Kyle Anderson on a 2-year $18 million deal. In the 2021-22 season, Anderson averaged 7.6 points and 5.3 rebounds in 21.5 minutes per game for the Memphis Grizzlies this past season. His presence brings defense and depth to the Wolves Wing.
Kyle Anderson, nicknamed “Slo-Mo”, has a unique driving style.

Anderson is a thoughtful player, one who has used his feel for the game to overcome his lack of typical NBA speed.

Slo-Mo’s Eurostep is just enough of a change-up to frustrate opponents.
Surprise! Minnesota Timberwolves reinvest in PF Taurean Prince. light. Must Read
The Prince returns
Perhaps one of the most important moves that may have fallen under the radar for the Timberwolves was their re-signing of their own forward. The team reached an extension with F Taurean Prince on 2-year $16 Million deal. Well worth it, for a veteran forward who can defend multiple positions and contribute on offense.
Taurean Prince made 38.5% of his catch-and-shoot 3s last season, providing reliable shooting + valuable leadership in the locker room.

After the team emptied their vault in an NBA headliner trade (see next slide), the roster needed perimeter shooting. To address that need, the Timberwolves also reached an agreement with former Denver Nuggets guard Bryn Forbes. Last season Forbes was one of the top three-point shooters in the league. This signing is likely attributable to Minnesota Timberwolves President Tim Connelly. Whatever the reason, he is bringing his talents to Minnesota, where he will create needed floor spacing for the team, including the best shooting big in the NBA in Karl-Anthony Towns.

That has been quite a list of signings, hasn’t it? Well, the team conducted even more business than that. You see, the team elected to exercise their team options for one more year of both Jaylen Nowell and Naz Reid. But there was one more transaction, wasn’t there? Oh yes, that blockbuster trade.
