III – C Thomas Bryant

Both the Los Angeles Lakers and the Boston Celtics are heavily rumored to be interested in signing former Washington Wizards center Thomas Bryant to the league minimum. There is good reason for it, he is a solid contributor who has started two-thirds of his games with the Wizards, but is suddenly in free agency looking for a new team.

Bryant is a solid addition to any roster, While he could be a starter, he also has the type of game that could prove to be a solid sixth or seventh man off the bench. Since that role is very up in the air for the Timberwolves, it makes sense to add firepower to the bench.

Timberwolves free agency

The Timberwolves’ free agency efforts should target young players on the rise, and Bryant has all the characteristics of being exactly that. He has a solid accuracy in the paint and has had sporadic and impressive success shooting treys. He does not turn the ball over, nor does he make many personal fouls.

He stands 6-foot-10 and weighs 248 pounds, a solid physical presence for banging bodies at the boards. When he gets the minutes, he can get the rebounds as well. He may be looking for a starting role, and the Timberwolves won’t have that to offer. But I think having a chance to play with both Rudy Gobert and Karl-Anthony Towns in daily practice would be one helluva sales pitch.
