4 free agents that Minnesota Timberwolves should sign after blockbuster trade
By Bret Stuter
I – SF Isaiah Roby
The Timberwolves need perimeter shooters, and Isaiah Roby is a marksman from beyond the arc. He is a young and rising NBA star, a young man who can be a complementary rotational player, but who cannot be ruled out from starting. He is a very competitive young man who has developed shooting treys.
Of course, three-point shooters get very popular this time of year. If they can add perimeter defense, so much the better.
A one-year deal option?
Roby is a young player who may be interested in a larger payday down the road. That could work to the Timberwolves’ advantage as the team continues to assess the current roster in terms of what the team may need to address for the 2023-24 season. Roby could prove to be that type of player who complements the team quite well, warranting a look at bringing him back next season.
Or he could end up being a one-and-done type of player? In either case, the Timberwolves would be wise to kick the tires on him. He checks all the boxes for a solid rotational player, he is eager to get his first taste of the NBA Playoffs, and his presence on the roster ensures that playing time is earned, and not assigned.
Four players who the Timberwolves should be looking at right now, and very well may be.
