Former Minnesota Timberwolves great Kevin Garnett is in the news today, but perhaps not in the way you may expect. While he is the beloved best player that the Minnesota Timberwolves have brought to the NBA, he was traded to the Boston Celtics, and thanks to the success he had enjoyed with that team, remains a Celtic-centric player.
And that is causing a lot of problems for his Celtic fans. Many many problems.
The Boston Celtics fans are a bit . . . passionate, about their team. And they have long held a heated rivalry with the LA Lakers. Some might say hatred, but I will stick with rivalry for the sake of this discussion. So social media is bursting into Boston flames after Kevin Garnett has been featured on Twitter with some tough love for LA Rams star Anthony Davis.
And a lot of praise for a player who Garnett should be the NBA MVP this year:
That is not going over well with Boston Celtics fans, particularly after just losing in the NBA Finals to the Golden State Warriors just weeks ago. The Celtics do not like the Lakers, and the Lakers do not like the Celtics. So the fact that Kevin Garnett is publicly praising and supporting one of the stars of their hated rival is a bit too much.
But on the flip side of the coin, Lakers fans are embracing every word spoken by Kevin Garnett about Davis. So much so, that the entire Twitterverse is now trending with Kevin Garnett’s tough love speech directed to Lakers Anthony Davis.
How is Twitter handling all the surging traffic? Like it always does. Trending up. Is Kevin Garnett right? Is LA Lakers star Anthony Davis just the right mindset away from being named NBA MVP? We may not get the answer, but it’s fun to watch Twitter trends until we do.
