Here we go! The Minnesota Timberwolves will be playing four games in the NBA Summer League beginning tonight, Friday, July 8, 2022, and depending on how well they perform, could potentially play more.

The Timberwolves are gnawing at the bit to compete in the 2022 NBA2K23 Summer League that tipped off Thursday evening with a showdown between the Houston Rockets and Orlando Magic. After a tournament schedule of four games that runs through Friday, July 15th, the schedule then flips over to bracket play.  That means that the team may compete in more games depending on how well they play in their four contests.

The Timberwolves have been forced to do a last-minute makeover of the roster that will travel to Las Vegas. The team announced a new roster on Wednesday, July 7, thanks to the trade of both rookie center Walker Kessler and wingman Leandro Bolmaro as part of the package to the Utah Jazz to acquire veteran center Rudy Gobert.

The NBA will be televising all Summer League games. That means that you can catch the Timberwolves at least four times in the competition.  Here’s how to watch.

Wendell Moore Jr. will undoubtedly be the player most Minnesota Timberwolves fans will have their eyes trained upon. After all, he brings a bit of pop on the offensive half of the court, and that will certainly be the stuff that makes games exciting. Of particular interest to me is how well he shoots from behind the arc, as he seemed to find the range on his treys in his last season at Duke.

But keep your eye on wing Josh Minott as well. While he played just one season for Memphis in college basketball, he is worth tracking. He has a surprisingly stifling defense, demonstrating an ability to adhere to the ball-handler like velcro. While he has a limited shot arsenal, he moves well and will no doubt look to summer league competition to work on expanding that shot selection.

Are you excited yet? You certainly should be. The Timberwolves will be howling tonight. You still have time to stockpile the pantry, so grab some drinks and grub and get ready for some basketball.
