The Minnesota Timberwolves took on the Milwaukee Bucks in their third NBA Summer League contest Wednesday afternoon in Las Vegas. Minnesota fought hard but ultimately came up short to a talented Bucks squad.
It was another tough day shooting the ball for the Wolves, who connected on just 28 of their 79 shot attempts (35.4%). But one bright spot was Kevon Harris, who continues to be Minnesota’s most consistent player in Summer League. He had a team-high 16 points and four assists, while shooting three-of-seven from beyond the arc.
Harris has showed nice poise offensively. When taking defenders off the dribble, he’s been calm and poised, and he has no fear taking and making deep shots. His best moment came in the second quarter when he threw down a monster dunk over the Bucks’ Sandro Mamukelashvili.

Young Talent Shines Despite The Loss
Harris was one of four Timberwolves to score in double figures Wednesday. Another was the rookie out of Duke, Wendell Moore Jr. He showed good patience offensively, getting defenders up in the air with pump fakes and letting the game come to him.
There are still some kinks to work out, but the first-round pick has shown some excellent flashes. The fact that he was a 13 points-per-game scorer on a Duke squad that featured the likes of Paolo Banchero and AJ Griffin is certainly promising for his scoring potential.
The second-round pick Josh Minott had a solid outing with six points and 11 rebounds. The box score may not show it, but Minott’s confidence has been through the roof. He was very ambitious with his shot attempts to say the least, missing two high-degree-of-difficulty dunks before finally getting his highlight moment in the fourth quarter.

This game had a little bit of everything, with Terrell Brown Jr. even attempting a shot while sitting on the floor early in the contest. He finished with 14 points on five-of-nine shooting and a perfect two-for-two from outside.
Marial Shayok showed his defensive chops with three steals and two blocks in 22 minutes of action, and big man David McCormack added in seven points and five rebounds on the interior.
This was the first Summer League contest where Minnesota was beaten badly on the boards (47-34 differential). If they clean that up and get higher-quality looks, they’ll likely be back to their winning ways.
Minnesota will take on Denver in their final Summer League game before bracket play begins Thursday evening at 9:00 CT.
