The Minnesota Timberwolves are filling the seats on their roster. The team had recently added Dallas Mavericks summer league star AJ Lawson to a Two-Way contract.  Now, NBA Insider Keith Smith reports that Nathan Knight, a 6-foot-10 253-pound power forward Nathan Knight has signed his Two-Way Qualifying Offer and will remain with the Minnesota Timberwolves through the 2022-23 season.

Editor’s Note: But then this was reported:

The Timberwolves still have one Two-Way contract to fill. But Knight was a solid addition to the team.

Knight failed to hear his name called out in the 2020 NBA Draft and became a free agent. He initially signed a Two-Way contract with the Atlanta Hawks. After the 2020-21 season, he signed a Two-Way contract with the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Standing 6-foot-10 and with a 7-foot-2 wingspan, the young power forward has serious upside, and the Timberwolves want to keep him around for another season in an effort to unlock all of that potential.

While he has limited playing time in both the NBA and the G-League, his lone performance on the Iowa Wolves was jaw-dropping. He played 35.2 minutes, scored 33 points, and hauled in 12 rebounds, 1 assist, two steals, and four blocks.

That was his only G-League performance, but he should get more work this year.

Knight needs to expand and perfect his shot arsenal. He has a solid assortment of short-range and mid-range pops, charges, layups, and stepbacks. But his perimeter shot needs attention.

He is a hard worker around the basket, always trying to set and improve his position to get the rebound, block, and sometimes the occasional steal.

He needs to refine his technique a bit. But he has flashed brilliance at times. The Minnesota Timberwolves hope to up the wattage to keep him shining on a consistent basis.
