Here’s why Timberwolves Karl-Anthony Towns to PF makes complete sense

Reason III – Defense in the paint
If you want to improve, you’ve got to set the bar higher than before. As the front office assumes the task of assembling a viable NBA roster, that means more than just chasing stats and acquiring name recognizable players. In fact, it pretty much has nothing to do with that.
Rather, the roster is defined by the one basketball, and how each player on the intended roster handles the duties of the team in regard to that basketball. If you have a great offensive NBA center, adding a good offensive NBA center does little in terms of improving the team. Depth wise? Sure. Improving the bench? Maybe.
But the art of building an NBA Championship roster takes a lot of chemistry, complementary skillsets, and a roster that delivers different skills to the team simultaneously. We know that the Timberwolves wanted to get stronger defensively this offseason. Well, they certainly went for the best available player in that department.
The Timberwolves will need to work together and build a cohesive winning roster this season. After all, whether playing together for the first time or finding themselves in a much larger role with the team, the players will need plenty of practice before they are all firing on all cylinders.
But the front office has certainly done their part to this point. Now, it will be up to the coaching staff and the players to deliver.
