The Minnesota Timberwolves did not hesitate to re-sign forward Taurean Prince. That likely came at a cost of significant personnel hours in vetting Prince’s character, athleticism, production, and relative value to the team. Now, it appears that the team will be recommitting a significant number of personnel hours once more, this time to sort out the facts regarding allegations that have led to a reported arrest of Taurean Prince at the Miami Airport.
So what do we know? Not as much as we would like to, but this is a rapidly developing story that is just beginning to warrant the attention of the team and investigation resources.
Minnesota Timberwolves President of Basketball Operations Tim Connelly was pressed at an impromptu press conference regarding the allegations and the reported arrest of Taurean Prince.
Taurean Prince is a 28-year-old NBA combination forward who is entering his seventh NBA season, and his second season for the Minnesota Timberwolves. Standing 6-foot-7 and weighing 218-pounds, Prince offers the Timberwolves tremendous versatility, allowing them to slide him to either a small forward or power forward role in the team’s rotation.
While he has been an NBA starter at times in his career, he has taken on a role of a depth player for the Timberwolves, averaging just over 17 minutes of playing time per game. Since reports of his arrest and the allegations necessitating that action are so fresh, we have no way to gauge the potential impact nor the validity of any charges.
Keep in mind that allegations are not an indication of guilt. We will continue to monitor the matter and share any new information that becomes available.
