With new rookies coming in this season, many players have appeared on the watch list already after an incredible NBA Summer League. One player that should be on the watch list for most teams is the rookie guard out of Duke University, Wendell Moore Jr. of the Minnesota Timberwolves.

During his junior season at Duke, Moore averaged 13.4 points per game, 5.3 rebounds per game, and 4.4 assists per game in what was his final collegiate season. He would help the Blue Devils reach the NCAA Final Four before losing to rival college North Carolina.

Many questioned if he was going to enter the NBA Draft this season or play one more year with Duke, before he announced on his Instagram that he was going to join teammates Mark Williams and Paolo Banchero in the NBA Draft. He would go on to be drafted 26th overall by the Dallas Mavericks, who would trade the pick to the Minnesota Timberwolves.

So What Does Moore Bring To The Table?

Moore has the ability to shoot from long range, which could make him a threat from behind the three point arc. He also likes to attack the basket when on the fast break or guarded closely, with his ability to finish at the basket making him a huge problem for most players guarding him.

His ability to find the open man when on the attack makes him a real threat for most opponents. And with him playing alongside Karl-Anthony Towns and Rudy Gobert, that could be a dangerous trio on the court.

How Will He Improve The Timberwolves?

With Moore working alongside D’Angelo Russell, Anthony Edwards, and the other guards on the Timberwolves roster, he’ll bring a lot to the table with his play calling, unselfish style of play, and ability to create plays out of nowhere. He’ll bring a new attacking option to the Timberwolves roster.

Working alongside Rudy Gobert, Karl-Anthony Towns, and the other big men on the roster will help Moore Jr. create more opportunities in the paint, either by creating a lane for him to attack the basket or finding the center down low in the painted area to create monstrous plays. He has an entire NBA regular season to prove why he can be a factor for this team, but we will have to see him step in and make big moves this upcoming season.

Wendell Moore Jr. can bring a new energy to this Timberwolves team that is looking to bring home an NBA Championship this upcoming season. We will have to see what he brings to the table this season, and how he will be a factor for this year’s team.
