In the newest list of the top 100 players in the NBA released by ESPN, Minnesota Timberwolves fans were probably less than thrilled to see their team’s starting point guard given such an undeserved low ranking. It was certainly one of the bigger mistakes made on the list.

But as the list continues to be released, the Timberwolves have ended up getting more of the respect that the fanbase expected.

Karl-Anthony Towns, Rudy Gobert, and Anthony Edwards were ranked 13th, 18th, and 25th on the list respectively, making Minnesota the only NBA team to have three players selected in the top 25.

While preseason rankings definitely aren’t everything, it’s still nice to see this Timberwolves squad and its talented players receive their due recognition. Minnesota’s star duo of big men both land in the top 18, while budding superstar Anthony Edwards rounds out the top 25 of the list.

Minnesota Is Stacked With Talent

This ranking confirms what many have been saying about the Timberwolves being some of the biggest winners of the 2022 offseason. Some have downplayed the Wolves’ addition of Rudy Gobert, but it’s seeming more and more obvious that this team’s star power is adding up.

Karl-Anthony Towns’ placement at 13th puts him over other perennial All-Stars like Paul George and Jimmy Butler. The rest of the list is still to be released, but with Nikola Jokic and Joel Embiid both set to land somewhere in the top five, Rudy Gobert should end up ranked as the third-best center.

Anthony Edwards’ 25th overall spot seems about right as well. He’s already made himself known to the fans outside Minnesota with his high-octane scoring and powerful dunks, but it shouldn’t be long until he’s shooting up this list closer to the top 15 or 10. The best case scenario? We could see him in a similar spot as Jayson Tatum in a year or two.

None of the Timberwolves’ stars should be regressing any time soon, so it’s not outside the realm of possibility that we could see three Minnesota players in the top 15 of this list next year.
